Ember Schrag歌手简介:
Ember Schrag grew up in western Nebraska. She spent several years carving out a space in the Midwest as a distinctive lyricist, singer and guitarist. 2010's acclaimed EP Jephthah’s Daughter (Eh?), and Schrag’s debut studio effort, A Cruel, Cruel Woman (Lone Prairie 2009), were preceded by nearly a dozen home-recorded CD-Rs and cassettes. Her second full length album, The Sewing Room, was released on July 10, 2012 on Edible Onion + Single Girl, Married Girl. Schrag has toured with Kath Bloom and collaborated with Susan Alcorn, P.G. Six, The Chiara Quartet, Philip Gayle, Amy Denio, Dino Felipe, Low Hums, The Black Twig Pickers, L. Eugene Methe and Lucky Bone. Schrag also performs improvised electroacoustic music in the project Office Park (upcoming album on Humbug out of Norway), a collaboration with instrument builder Bryan Day. She currently resides in Iowa. "Distinctive and free of affect or artifice." - A.V. Club "Subtle, subdued acoustic guitar ballads, devoid of flash but soaked in character and a perpetually unsettling sense of mystery.” - Dead Angel "Sparse, yet lyrically complex...This is not your standard subject matter but, then again, these are no standard folk songs." - Martin Raybould (Whisperin' and Hollerin') "The lyrics on The Sewing Room...have a wise, oracular quality. It's all murky and moody, but just concrete enough to get you wondering." - Patrick Rapa, Philadelphia City Paper “The best female vocalist I’ve heard in Omaha. By a long shot.” - L. Eugene Methe "Lands somewhere between Scout Niblett and Karen Dalton, writing about land and space and hope and despair." - Nightlight "If you must buy only one album this year that has both mandolin and atonal homemade instruments made out of odd pieces of metal on it, make it this one...The Sewing Room feels like the fully realized arrival of an honest and very real artistic vision from this enigmatic, hard-working folk singer-songwriter playing sultry, bucolic cowgirl-swing-meets-chanteuse songs informed by peculiar life experiences and a unique mystical take on obscure corners of the Bible.." -Centipede Farmer "A song so good it can only be described in clichés about angels and airplanes and weeping clouds." - writer Stephen Elliott (The Adderall Diaries) on "I Ain't A Prophet" “In a world full of throwaway artists, this young lady comes across sounding like the real thing.” - babysue
